After Shock

The last years, the idea of home as a concept became an intensely invested sphere for lyrical abstractions and postheidegerian orientations. As a result we have seen the mixture of philosophical and phenomenological discourse for both art and architecture. The work of the displayed artists assure a passage from in situ to the socius, denying the simple identification of the interior in its spatial and puristic terms. Within a practise of frontal and controlled shots, playing also with the dogma of Dusseldorf,  the pictures of John Theodoropoulos and Maria Papadimitriou  frame a sentimental povera condition that have nothing in common with the constructions usually seen in many schools of architecture when artists as lecturers display their hi-tec sophisticated constructions of art and design in front of an accessible audience.  Because of the low-priced value of the materials these anonymous fragile rooms, become documents from the "other" invisible side of the suburban Greek dwellings affirming their heretic style to the orthodox forms of architecture.  The fragile character of huts and caravans is completely opposite to the material supremacy of our days, since the one room dimensions are Lilliputians and nameless in comparison to the glorious manifestations of middle-class palaces.

In that sense, they correspond to a fictional condition of truism that resists to the monumental logic and sterility of modernity. Finally that ordinary shots, stripped of all passional regards, reflect the usually invisible surrounding space of what is supposed to remain unnoticed. Vulnerability in our days is the hidden ethos for the evolution of beauty.
